Richmond House Primary School
History of the School
Richmond House Primary school is located on Otley road opposite Leeds Beckett University, its quite a small school however always fills classes every year. It’s an independent school so the children’s parents have to pay for them to attend the school, this is why the expectations from the school are so high. Richmond House School first opened its doors on 17th September 1935, housing 24 five year olds. The school was founded by Miss Beryl Davies to provide first class academic education for boys and girls from the age of 5 to 11 years. The school originally occupied just one building, 170 Otley Road. In 1938, 168 Otley Road was acquired and the buildings were joined by an interconnecting passageway.
The Current Headteacher at the School is Mrs Helen Stiles and the chair of governors is Ms Catherine Shuttleworth, The age range of the schools pupils is 3-11 years old, they’re 219 pupils in total with 112 being male and 107 being female.
School Reports
The Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) is the body responsible for the inspection of independent schools in membership of the Associations that make up the Independent Schools Council. ISI reports to the Department for Education on the extent to which schools meet statutory requirements. Nationally standardised test data provided by the school indicate that the pupils is above average.

Facilities
At Richmond House School the facilities are really vast when talking about outside sporting areas, they have 10 acres of sports fields which can incorporate football and rugby pitches, a cricket square, netball and tennis courts, athletics facilities, two pavilions and, uniquely, crown green bowling and petanque facilities. They also have a gymnasium inside the main building which they use for indoor sports and gymnastics which is part of the curriculum.
